Area Directors

Who We Are and What We Do

Guidance

  • Area directors are responsible for leading their area by serving clubs' needs. 

 

Area Purpose

  • Ensure each club fulfills its members' responsibilities to become a distinguished club.

  • Promote and extend the benefits of membership in Toastmasters clubs. 

  • Help with the organization of new clubs. 

  • Facilitate training of club officers. 

  • Encourage clubs to undertake efforts that create greater community awareness of Toastmasters and make Toastmasters available to more people. 

  • Oversee and conduct speech contests in the District.

Area Councils

  • Area Councils manage Area activities and support each club in fulfilling its mission. 

  • The Area Director presides over an Area Council.

Business Conducted at Area Council Meetings

  • Club Success Plans and progress in the Distinguished Club Program

  • Club officer training attendance reports

  • Plans for Area events, such as training and speech contests

  • Goals, strategies, and news that affect Area clubs

  • Evaluate and assess Area Director candidates per the governing documents.

Area Director Visits

  • Area Directors conduct club visits twice a year within their respective areas to understand and support club needs.

  • In turn, these visits help District leaders understand how to support and meet the needs of each club.
